Taroue W. Brooks is a visionary strategist, communications architect, and executive producer whose dynamic career spans more than two decades at the intersection of public affairs, media, and cultural innovation. Renowned for his ability to forge authentic connections and tell transformative stories, Brooks has become a sought-after force in the entertainment, nonprofit, and political landscapes.
A master storyteller behind the scenes, Taroue has served as executive producer for multiple critically acclaimed projects that center marginalized voices and preserve cultural narratives. His credits include a gripping documentary, Dear Everyone....Sincerely, The Virgin Islands chronicling the devastation wrought by Hurricanes Irma and Maria in the U.S. Virgin Islands, as well as The Race Continues, a powerful film exploring the enduring legacy of the National Black MBA Association. He is also the creative force behind What About Me, a compelling exploration into the inner lives, thoughts, and emotions of African American men.
Taroue brought his production prowess to the stage for the concert series in collaboration with the New Orleans Jazz Orchestra, where he also serves on the board of directors. He played a pivotal communications role in the success of the Social Change International Film Festival, reflecting his deep commitment to elevating artistic expression and advancing social progress.
With expertise spanning strategic communications, public affairs, and publicity, Taroue’s professional journey began with a historic foundation. As a national youth representative for the A. Philip Randolph Institute during the 30th Anniversary of the March on Washington, he embraced the principles of civic engagement and social justice that would go on to shape his career.
His early work on Capitol Hill, serving as a staffer to U.S. Senator Carol Moseley Braun, focused on education and health policy communications. He later joined Black Entertainment Television (BET), contributing to the Syndication Division’s Special Projects Unit. There, he earned an Emmy nomination in 1995 for his work on A Tribute to Black Music Legends, a program honoring the enduring contributions of Black artists.
Building on these formative experiences, Taroue launched a boutique consultancy focused on strategic communications, event production, fundraising, branding, and cultural programming. His diverse portfolio includes collaborations with Fortune 500 companies, government agencies, philanthropic organizations, and high-profile individuals—each project reflecting his commitment to excellence and impact. A steadfast philanthropist and cultural steward, Taroue has received numerous accolades for his dedication to service. In 2024, he was awarded the prestigious Presidential Lifetime Achievement Award by President Joseph R. Biden in recognition of his decades-long commitment to leadership, civic service, and community empowerment. In addition to his role with the New Orleans Jazz Orchestra, Taroue serves as a trustee at Stillman College and is a board member of Social Change. Through his work, he continues to inspire the next generation of leaders while using storytelling as a tool for transformation, advocacy, and healing.
